what if women were no longer born ?
“If I had known what the world was like outside, I would never have left.”
Grenoble, 35 years after the Extinction.
Edgar has been held in a militia prison for days when a mysterious visitor comes to free him: Jo. After living his entire life in self-sufficiency with his grandfather, Edgar discovers the world as it has become. A virus from the Arctic plains has caused a decline in fertility, and women are no longer being born. A demographic state of emergency has been declared, and the Natalist party has taken control. Now, all women over the age of fifteen must submit to the Duty of Procreation or join the Institutes of Natality. The militia is everywhere. Danger is ever-present.
For Jo, there is no other choice but to reach the Scandinavian Union, her only hope of living free. The two teenagers embark on a thrilling road trip to escape the militia and the regime. At stake? Their freedom. Hunted by the regime, they are Dissidents.
